Baltimore Main Streets Staff Selected to Present at 2008 National Conference
Baltimore Main Streets staff members, Donna Langley and Nick Rudolph have been selected to present at the 2008 National Main Street Conference in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. The title of their presentation is "Community-Driven Eminent Domain." This is Baltimore Main Streets second year in a row to be selected as a presenter at the National Conference.
In the summer of 2003, the Pigtown Main Street Manager and a cadre of volunteers took Baltimore Main Streets and City officials on a tour of Washington Boulevards blighted properties that frustrated Pigtown Main Streets revitalization efforts for years. Community members tried to engage absentee property owners to fix up their properties and become part of the new vision for the neighborhood. Nick and Donna will discuss how Baltimore became the first Main Street program in the country to initiate community-driven eminent domain as a tool to expose the true potential of a retail corridor.
If you would like to learn more about this session or the presenters, please contact us.
